An Introductory Greeting by Chelsea DuDeVoire (Founder, BWH)

My name is Chelsea. I'm a 23 year-old writer, editor, marketer, project coordinator, dancer and person. I graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Editing, Writing & Media one year ago, and currently work as the project coordinator at an environmental sustainability and infrastructure firm. While I’m incredibly grateful to be gaining this experience so early on in my career, I am also just another early TwentySomething with a need for creativity: to make, to move, to communicate, to innovate, to grow. As the first person in my family to graduate from college, I feel like I have the world at my fingertips. And along with everyone else, I'm just trying to find my place in it.

In constantly comparing myself to other thriving young women, whose social media outlets portray the most wonderful work/life balance full of success and rooftop happy hours and published HuffPost articles, I'm exposed to the endless array of career routes and opportunities at seemingly every moment. When it comes to "work", I know I'm meant for cool, meaningful, fulfilling things that offer more than just a living. I know we all are. It’s not that I’m sitting around wondering when they'll find me; I'm sitting around wondering when I'll stop whining and decide to make sh*t happen for myself. So why not now?

I’ve created this blog as a space where women can retreat to when they’re as confused as I am in this very moment. I envision this as a platform for career inspiration-searching babes to connect – whether it’s to offer encouraging words in weird times, kick some writer's block, provide an awesome networking opportunity, strike an unexpected surge of inspiration, or simply pose as some go-to lunch break reading material.

Babes Who Hustle is a blog that will feature women near and far holding varying jobs across all industries. We'll highlight the career paths they've forged, and offer an inside look into their everyday work lives and motivations (among other tidbits of who they are as human beings, because, surprise, that stuff matters too!)

I don't intend for this blog to replicate every other site out there. I don’t intend for this to be glamorous. I don't want us to hide behind instagram filters or small talk, and this isn’t a place for loud, raging, male-hating feminism. It’s a place for celebrating the fact that it’s 2016 and we live in a world with a female presidential nominee; where women are capable, passionate, smart, strong, and making things happen for themselves - by themselves. When it comes to gender inequality, we still have an incredibly long way to go. But we also have so much to celebrate and share, and I want to be a part of making that happen.

I (desperately) want to hear from Babes who Hustle. And in the most selfish way possible, I hope that it just might help me find my place, too. Let's do this thing.
